ST. IGNATIUS — At our meeting on Sept. 8, the board decided to open on Sept. 23 at 5:30 p.m. for an extra dinner at the St. Ignatius Senior Center. We will still be serving take-out meals on the regular days, every Tuesday and Friday and the first and third Wednesdays for lunch. We are adding the evenings of Sept. 23 and Oct. 14 for dinner with limited social time. We will do temperature checks at the door, ask everyone to wear masks, have hand sanitizers available in many spots, and observe social distancing. Our meals will be served by staff and volunteers rather than having self-serve at this time. We will be able to play bingo. I am very excited to get to know our members.

One of our board members will be calling those of you who regularly attended our meals to see how many folks to expect. We would so appreciate your calls also so that we can plan accordingly. The meal is Indian tacos or chili with frybread. With Missy cooking, you know it will be good. Also, we have a new assistant cook, Rose Mansell, who is a welcome addition to our kitchen. Missy, Kay and Rose - we have a wonderful team.

If you would like to buy a frozen meal, we have a few in stock and are always adding more. Please call and request one if you like. Just let us know.

Homebound folks, if you would like salt and pepper packets, please let us know.

We will have our annual yard and a bake sale on Oct. 2 and 3, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the east end of the building and in the carport, weather permitting. If it is raining or snowing, we will hold the yard sale in our room right inside the east door, with social distancing guidelines in place.

Menu for the 16-22:

—  Wednesday, Sept. 16: cook’s choice

—  Friday, Sept. 18: chicken taco bake, Mexican rice, fruit salad, green salad, ice cream

—  Tuesday, Sept.  22:  breakfast meal, cook’s choice

—  Wednesday, Sept. 23: 5:30 dinner - Indian taco or chili and frybread, coleslaw, fruit

Senior commodities will be distributed on Sept. 22.
