Ingrid Roberts

CHARLO — Ingrid Karen Roberts, born June 13, 1941, passed away on Oct. 9, 2020, due to complication of diabetes. As a young girl her parents moved to St. Ignatius, where she graduated in 1959. 

Ingrid worked in the Charlo School District for over 30 years and was known as “Miss Ingrid” to her students. She was the librarian and was active in different positions through the years, including: detention, beading, study hall, after-school club and honor society. She was the first one to start the Indian Club in Charlo. 

She was very active in the community. She was one of the first to volunteer to chaperone school trips or take tickets at the games. 

Ingrid was very talented and could make just about anything for anybody. She loved beading, knitting, crocheting, sewing, pottery, quilting, and flower arranging and she made several of the school’s arrangements. Ingrid loved to pass on her talents to whoever wanted to learn and recently taught her granddaughter Charlee how to crochet. 

Ingrid is preceeded in death by her parents, Swan Ludwig Bovkist, and Georgia “O’Malley” Bovkist; her brother, John “Jack” (Dorothy) Neiter; her late husband, Stan Roberts: and her beloved granddaughter, Cassandra Lee Smith. 

Survivors include her beloved companion, Tazz, her faithful dog; her daughter, Terri (Brett) Cordier; her granddaughter, Charlee (Chance); her great-grandchildren, Milee Evelyn, Brynlee, and Skye Johnson; her granddaughter, Kirsten (Jordan); her great-grandchildren, Xavier and Maya St. Clair; her son, Bill Smith; her granddaughter, Joelle Smith (Adam); her great-grandchildren, Kazander and Acen; her grandson, Jeffrey; her great-grandchildren, Oakley and  Harper; her grandson, Colton (Michelle) Smith; her great-grandson, Clayton; her grandsons Bridger, and Carter Smith; her daughter, Alisa Smith; her grandson, Bo (Cecelia) Herak; her grandson, Jake (Anika) Herak; her grandson, Michael; her great-granddaughters, Huntyr and Sierra Smith(Kyle); her son, Swan Smith; and her best friend for over 40 years, Helen “Cookie,” and the late Bert Todd; along with all of her students from over the years.

Services will be held at the Charlo football field on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m. Please wear your masks and bring your own chairs. Be cautious of social distancing.  

In lieu of flowers, there will be a scholarship fund set up at Valley Bank in her name, Ingrid Roberts, for students from Charlo School District.
