Lake County Treasurers Office creates schedule to lessen lines

POLSON – If you have had to conduct business at the Lake County Treasurer’s Office lately, you probably experienced an unusually long line and wait time.
Lake County Treasurer Robin Vert-Rubel says there are a couple factors creating the backlog. They are down five staff members and out of state citizens demand for services has quadrupled since the COVID-19 pandemic hit Montana.
In an effort to alleviate the problem, days of operation were changed on Aug. 31. Title work and new registrations will only be processed Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and renewals will only be processed on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The new schedule change is working and the backlog is slowly getting smaller.
