DIXON — We are past the middle of August and looking toward back-to-school for some, garden harvesting for others, and for our little town, the Dixon Melon Day puts us on the map once more. The Dixon Melon Day committee has been busy arranging all the details to provide activities for a day of community enjoyment. The Senior Center will have a roast beef dinner following the 11 a.m. parade. That’s this Saturday, Aug. 25. See you there.
Our meals are served on Mondays starting at 6 p.m. and lunch is served at noon on Thursdays. Our cook is creative and generous. Come join us and bring your family and guests. Take-outs are available.
Meals for August:
Thursday, Aug 23: sweet/sour chicken
Monday, Aug. 27: lasagna
Thursday, Aug 30: King Ranch chicken
It’s time to wish our senior, Betty Wetzel, a special happy birthday, number 92, on Aug. 23. This cheerful lady still walks to and from the center for meals and socializing. Betty is a “landmark” in our community, having moved here in 1959, and helping to found the Senior Center in the 1980s.
A special thanks goes to Joey and Harley Hettick for sharing a preview of their delicious melons at lunch last week. More will be available on Melon Day.
