FORT BENTON — On the road Saturday afternoon in Fort Benton, the Class C Mission Bulldogs football team battled the top-ranked Longhorns in a first-round playoff showdown.

The undefeated Longhorns defeated the Bulldogs 61-6. Allowing an average of 3.4 yards per play for a total of 182 yards on 54 plays, the Longhorn defense stifled the Bulldog offense.

In the waning minutes of the second quarter, Bulldog running back Bryce Umphrey erased the goose egg on the scoreboard for Mission with a one-yard touchdown plunge into the end zone.

On the day, Mission quarterback Kellen McClure went 21-for-37 passing for 177 yards and six interceptions. Charley Adams led the Bulldogs on the ground with six carries for 11 yards.
