Yoga brings beauty to life

My hope for my students is that they will recall that they know more than they think. The hard part is rolling out their mat and getting on it (no small feat, I can attest to that). 

I suggest that people set up a space that can stay prepped for spontaneous yoga, perhaps in a designated room or in a corner where a mat, blanket and blocks wait patiently for a visit. At the very least, have your supplies rolled up together so that all you need to do is grab the roll, bring it out, take a seat, breathe and begin.

Following a book or an online course is an easy option nowadays. And usually, you can find a live class in your neighborhood. When you attend, ask questions. Share, with your new teacher, any injuries so they can help guide you safely. And most importantly, trust your instincts as to whether you want to continue with this class or not. And please, please: give the relationship time to grow. 

As for my teaching, I predict that this sabbatical will replenish, refresh and remind me of all the beauty that sharing yoga has brought to my life. I’ll be back. I’m just not sure how that will look.
