Hello recyclers,

This is an update to inform you of what's new at the transfer station recycling center, and it's exciting news for Lake County residents.

Visit our new website, www.lakecountyrecycling.com, for current recycling information.

We have expanded what can be recycled at the transfer station:

• Steel (tin) cans (please separate from aluminum cans, remember cans should be rinsed and dried - labels do not need to be removed).

• Paperboard - which includes heavy paper items, like beverage and cereal boxes, (in the same bin with corregated cardboard).

• Plastic containers No. 1 - No. 7, basically any hard plastic that is not a bottle (please separate from No. 1 and No. 2 plastic bottles)

• Most office paper - colored paper and junk mail is Ok now, in with white paper, (remove non-paper items). No fluorescent, neon or golden rod colors, because a small amount of which can contaminate a whole container.

See attachments or the website for a complete up to date list of recyclables.

Our E-Waste event is May 19 and 20 — mark your calendars. Lake County solid waste is scheduling the second annual Electronic Waste Collection event. We will be at SKC on May 19, and at the transfer station on Friday, May 20. See the website for times, prices and more details.

We are looking for volunteers and sponsors to help with the E-Waste event, please e-mail or call me if you are interested in helping out. There will be free recycling presentations — please call or e-mail me to schedule a presentation for any group, class or business that wants to learn more about how to reduce waste in Lake County and recycle more.

Polson, Ronan and Pablo will soon have recycling bins located in town. We'll let you know when they are in place, and when they are located.
