MILES CITY — Polson Pirate wrestlers Ryley Knutson and Maysn Cowell both took fifth place in their respective weight classes during the State A wrestling tournament held at Custer County District High School in Miles City on Saturday.

Wrestling in the 126-pound weight class, Cowell capped his senior season with a 9-3 decision fifth-place podium finish over his Laurel opponent Johnathan Herr. Freshman teammate Knutson picked up his fifth-place win in the 103-pound class by injury default over Browning’s Chris Hall.

Out of 22 teams, the Pirates finished with 40 total points, placing 13th overall.

With no state placers, the Ronan Chiefs, scored a team total of 26 points for an 18th place state finish.

Wrestling in a 40-team field during the Class B/C State Wrestling Championships hosted at Shelby High School over the weekend, the Mission/Charlo Bulldogs placed 33rd in the team standings with 10 points. Arlee placed 38th place with five team points.
