EUREKA — Another prep high school basketball season is in the books as the Mission Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs both closed their season during Western B Basketball Divisional action in Eureka last weekend.

On Thursday, the Bulldogs opened the tournament against the Deer Lodge Wardens. The Bulldogs outscored the Wardens 17-6 in the first quarter and led by three points 23-20 at the half. Deer Lodge put together a big second half to pull away from the Bulldogs 48-37 for the first-round win. Zoran LaFrombois netted 16 points to lead the Bulldog pack.

In the loser-out game Friday morning, the Bulldogs quickly found themselves down 17-13 at the end of the first quarter to the Anaconda Copperheads. Scratching their way back into the game in the second quarter, the Bulldogs took a 30-24 advantage to end the first half.

After leading 52-34 at the end of the third quarter, Mission’s offense brought in 19 more points in the final frame to pull away with the 71-47 win. LaFrombois scored a game-high 21 points followed by Ross McPherson who contributed 16.

On Saturday morning, the Bulldogs kept their state tournament hopes alive by advancing into the late afternoon consolation game with a 55-36 win over the Missoula Loyola Rams. Nine Bulldogs scored against the Rams, led by LaFrombois who scored a game-high 24 points and McPherson who chipped in 12.

Looking to fill a State B tournament bracket spot with a win in the consolation game, the Bulldogs fell short to the Thompson Falls Blue Hawks 60-46. LaFrombois paced the Bulldogs with 13 points and Kellen McClure added 11 points.

The Bulldogs finish the season with an overall mark of 12-8 and a fourth-place finish in the Western B Divisional tournament.

On the girl’s side of the court, the Lady Bulldogs opened tournament action on Wednesday with a 66-32 loss to the Anaconda Lady Copperheads. Kooper Page scored a Lady Bulldog team-high nine points.

Facing the Florence-Carlton Lady Falcons in loser-out bracket action on Thursday, Sydney Brander scored a Mission team-high 11 points as the Lady Bulldogs fell 46-26 to the Lady Falcons.
