A former Polson woman was sentenced to 100 years in the Montana State Women’s Prison with none of that time suspended and no chance at parole.

Danielle Jeanette Wood, 56, was found guilty by a Sanders County jury in January of deliberate homicide after a two-week trial. She was sentenced at District Court in Thompson Falls on March 2.

Wood was convicted of deliberate homicide for shooting and killing her ex-boyfriend and father of her child, Matthew George LaFriniere, 51, on May 2, 2018. According to charging documents, the two were “involved in a custody dispute that resulted in Matthew obtaining primary custody” of the child.

LaFriniere’s coworker discovered his body under a piece of plywood at LaFriniere’s residence in Thompson Falls on May 3, 2018. He had been shot three times.
