Track & Field
Prep track teams from the Mission Valley had solid showings during the Gene Hughes Invitational all class track meet held in Hamilton on Thursday.
Carlee Fryberger won three events for the Class C Charlo Vikings — the 200-meter run with a time of 27.96 seconds, 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.78 seconds and the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 48.37 seconds. Fryberger also picked up a third place in the 100-meter dash.
In Class B, Mission Lady Bulldog Sydney Brander won the triple jump posting a jump of 32 feet and one inch. Brander also picked up three additional top five finishes by recording a second in the long jump, third in the 400-meter and a fourth in the 100-meter.
The Mission boys placed fourth in the 4x100 relay and Bulldog Andrew Rush finished the 3200 in second place.
For the Arlee Scarlets, Isabelle Pape nabbed a third place in the pole vault, while teammate Raven Parson raced to a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter.
Colt Crawford placed third in the 300-meter hurdles for the Arlee Warriors.
In Class A, the Polson Pirates finished second in the 4x100, while Jonathan Perez placed second in the javelin, Boston Goode finished fourth in the 400-meter, Ryan Dupuis claimed fourth in the 1600 and Abel Kimmel grabbed fourth in the high jump.
Also for the Pirates, Jarrett Wilson with a time of 43.76 finished first in the 300-meter hurdles and fourth in the 100-meter dash.
On the girl’s side of the track, the Lady Pirates finished fourth in the 4x400, Hannah Simpson placed second in the 400-meter run, Halle Heninger nabbed third in the 3200 followed by Maddilyn Huffine in fourth while Taleah Hernandez picked up a fourth place in the pole vault.
With a time of 10:11.14 Brant Heiner finished first in the 3200, Dylan Kelch threw a first place in the javelin and Payton Cates finished with a first in the high jump for the Class A Ronan Chiefs. Michael Irvine picked up a second-place finish in both the 800 and 3200 for the Chiefs, while Colter Cornwell placed second in the 300-meter hurdles and Zarec Couture finished second in the long jump.
For the Ronan Maidens, Lindsey Brooks finished third in the high jump.
Softball
Polson Lady Pirates
Polson Lady Pirates scored 13 runs in the first four innings in Thursday’s 24-0 shutout road win over the Hamilton Lady Broncs.
Lady Pirate leadoff hitter Josie Caye opened the game with a solo home run.
Turquoise Pierre singled, hit two home runs and drove in four runs for the Lady Pirates, who improved to a 3-0 record on the season. Lexie Orien was 4 for 3 with four RBIs, while Avery Star added a home run and five RBIs.
Katelynne Druyvestein was the winning pitcher after throwing five scoreless innings with no hits allowed and 13 strikeouts.
Mission-Arlee-Charlo (MAC)
The Mission-Arlee-Charlo (MAC) Bulldogs co-op girls softball squad is off to a phenomenal start so far, in the first four games of the new season the MAC batters have outscored their opponents by a run margin of 59-7.
MAC opened the week at home on Tuesday, March 30 with a 18-0 shutout win over the Hamilton Lady Broncs. During the game, Jerny Crawford hit a home run for the Bulldogs.
On the road in Frenchtown on Thursday, Izabel Evans and Katelyn Young each had home runs to lead the MAC team in defeating the Frenchtown Lady Broncs 14-2.
Closing the week out at home on Friday, Evans went 4 for 3 at the plate with two singles, a home run and four RBIs to pace MAC in a 11-5 victory over the Eureka Lady Lions.
Tennis
Ronan Chiefs and Maidens
Playing at home on Thursday, both the Ronan Chiefs and Maidens tennis squads came away with victories over the visiting Mission Bulldogs.
Beau Decker, Brady Dresden, Joseph Parnell and Dylan Schock each defeated their opponents for the 5-1 Chief win.
For the Maidens, single wins by Skyler Shima, Allysa Pretty on Top, Aaliyah Decker and Madison Perry help lead the Maiden to a 6-0
