Softball

Polson Lady Pirates

On the road Friday, the Polson Lady Pirates picked up their sixth consecutive win of the season with a 10-2 conference win over the Columbia Falls Wildkats.

Mckenna Hanson went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Lady Pirates. Pitcher Katelyne Druyvestein picked up the win, striking out six Wildkat batters and walking three.

Hosting the Browning Lady Indians on Saturday, the Lady Pirates moved to 7-0 on the season with a 34-0 shutout over Browning.

In the circle for Polson, Druyvestein and Turquoise Pierre combined for 11 strikeouts and one walk. At the plate, Kobbey Smith went 5-for-5 with three singles, a double and a base-clearing grand slam home run and 10 RBIs. Lexie Orien also homered and booked five RBIs, followed by Josie Caye who had four RBIs.

Mission-Arlee-Charlo MAC

Rheid Crawford went 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles, a home run and three RBIs in a 21-6 road win over the Thompson Falls Lady Blue Hawks on Tuesday, April 20. Kooper Page picked up the win for MAC, allowing six runs on seven hits, striking out eight and walking zero.

On Saturday, MAC moved to 11-1 on the season with a 27-0 shut out over hosting Deer Lodge Lady Wardens. Bennan Anderson paced all MAC hitters with four RBIs, followed by Maysa Couture and Hayleigh Smith who each had three RBIs.

 

Track & Field

Polson Pirates and Lady Pirates

The Polson High School boys and girls track and field team picked up 12 top-three finishes by racing under the lights during the Sapphire Twilight Meet that was held Thursday at the Corvallis Community Events Center. 

On the boy’s side of the track, the 4x100 relay team finished first with a time of 45.42 seconds, while the 4x400 relay team placed third. Jarrett Wilson placed first in three events: the 100-meter race with a time of 11.52 seconds, the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.43 seconds and the high jump. Boston Goode finished first in the 400 meters with a time of 53.01 seconds and third in the 200 meters.

With a jump of 20 feet 3.75 inches, Lucas Targerson placed first in the long jump, followed by Abel Kimmel who placed second in the high jump. Third-place finishes were taken by Jonathan Perez in the javelin and Mason Sloan in the 3200. 

Lady Pirate Ashtyn Wagner, with a time of 2:33.37 minutes, won the girls 800 meters. 

On Saturday, Jonathan Perez, with a throw of 148-03 feet, finished in first place in the javelin during the Columbia Falls Iceberg Invitational held at the Dr. Nicosia Track Complex in Columbia Falls. 

Jarrett Wilson placed second in the 110-meter hurdles and third in the long jump, while Lucas Targerson finished second in the long jump and raced to third place in the 100 meters. Also for the Pirates, Ryan Dupuis finished second in the 800 meters, Payton Cates placed second in the discus and Mason Sloan grabbed third in the 1600. 

In the girls’ races, Ashtyn Wagner finished second in the 1600 Meters and Sami Dolberry placed second in the 3200.

The Pirates 4x100 relay team placed first with a time of 45.64 seconds and third in the 4x400. The Lady Pirates placed second in both the 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay.  

Charlo Vikings and Lady Vikings

Carlee Fryberger came away with four first-place finishes during the Sapphire Twilight Meet on Thursday evening in Corvallis. Fryberger placed first in the 100-meter hurdles, 100-meter race, 300-meter hurdles and triple jump. Lady Viking teammate Kyla Tomlin placed third in the javelin and fourth in the shot put.

Vikings Tucker Love placed fourth in the javelin, followed by Jacob Tomlin in fifth.

On Saturday, Fryberger nabbed top-podium finishes in the 100 meters, 200 meters and 300 meters during the Seeley Swan Invitational held in Missoula. Also for the Lady Vikings, Kyla Tomlin place third in the javelin and Guinevere Contreras finished third in the 3200.

Mission Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs

In Missoula on Saturday, Sydney Brander had three top-five finishes for the Mission Lady Bulldogs during the Seeley Swan Invitational. Brander placed second in the high jump, third in the triple jump and fourth in the long jump.

For the Bulldogs,  Andrew Rush placed first in the 3200 with a time of 10:21.96 minutes. Layne Spidel finished third in the 400 meters and fifth in the 100 meters.

Ronan Chiefs and Maidens

On Saturday, the Ronan Chiefs and Maidens track and field teams traveled to Columbia Falls for the Columbia Falls Iceberg Invitational held at the Dr. Nicosia Track Complex. 

Colter Cornwell placed first in both the 110-meter hurdles (16.84) and 300-meter hurdles (43.91). Brant Heiner placed first in the 3200 with a time of 10:09.80 minutes and second in the 1600.

Also for the Chiefs, Girma Detwiler, with a jump of 41-07 feet, nabbed first place in the triple jump. Payton Cates finished first in the high jump, and Caleb Cheff placed third in the pole vault. The Chiefs’ 4x100 relay team finished third.

For the Maidens, Olivia Heiner had a time of 13:51.84 minutes and finished first in the 3200 and second in the 1600. Jaylea Lunceford finished second in the discus and third in the shot put. Rylie Lindquist placed second in the javelin and third in the discus. Maiden Lindsey Brooks grabbed second place in the high jump.
