Last summer, the Polson Chamber of Commerce made the incredibly difficult decision to cancel the annual Fourth of July fireworks and parade events. This generated an outpouring of impassioned opinions that — regardless upon which side of the argument they fell — were all driven by the same fundamental pride, care and concern that we all share for the wellbeing of our hometown and all the wonderful people who live here.

The chamber had always assumed that, by the time the 2021 summer rolled around, the pandemic would be well behind us and our fireworks and parade traditions would no longer be in doubt.

Thanks to the constant and amazing work of our healthcare officials and providers, our active case counts of COVID-19 are the lowest they’ve been in over a year. Moderately-sized outdoor gatherings are becoming safer and, if current trends continue, all indications are pointing toward this being one of the busiest and most exciting summer seasons to date. Unfortunately, while we have plenty of reason to be encouraged, the pandemic continues to linger and the future remains unclear.

For so long, the chamber looked forward to the day when we could tell you that the Fourth of July fireworks show was back and that in a few short months we would once again be able to experience something as a unified community, in honor of our country, in celebration of our town, reconnecting with that vital place inside our hearts yearning for those magical moments that only seem to exist when they are shared, and now, that day is here.

This summer, the Fourth of July fireworks show will light up the sky over the Armed Forces Memorial Bridge and Polson.

Please note, this announcement is only about the fireworks show. Due to the potential size of the gathering, plans for the Fourth of July parade are still in discussion. We won’t be making any official decisions until we’re a little closer to summer. In the meantime, we thank you for your patience and understanding and for all that you continue to do to give us the greatest opportunity for a fun, exhilarating and healthy 2021 summer of adventure here in Polson.

For those interested in helping make this year’s Fourth of July fireworks show our biggest and best show ever, please contact the Polson Chamber Office at chamber@polsonchamber.com.
