ST. IGNATIUS — Lake County Sheriff Don Bell released the name of the woman who was killed on U.S. Highway 93 on Thursday at around 4 p.m.

Shirley Crawford Moody, 85, of Polson, died from injuries sustained during a single-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 93 near Lemery Road.

The Montana Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck, and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office is overseeing coroner’s duties.

MHP reported that the incident happened after the vehicle was pulled over to switch drivers. The vehicle was not in park when the exchange began, and the vehicle began moving and hit the woman.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office “sends our condolences” to the Moody family for their loss.
