HELENA — Governor Greg Gianforte recently announced the state will devote $3.9 million in ARPA funds to bridge the technology divide and expand learning opportunities for students from pre-kindergarten through the 12th grade.
“We’re committed to expanding distance learning opportunities, closing the digital divide in our rural classrooms, and creating a better learning environment for students in every corner of our state,” Gov. Gianforte said. “Nothing replaces in-person learning, but throughout the past year, we’ve seen how technology can enhance learning opportunities, especially in rural Montana. We look forward to continuing to support technological innovation that ensures our students have access to the best education possible to prepare them for the future.”
Governor’s Emergency Education Relief II grants will be awarded to the pre-K-12 education-related entities most impacted by COVID-19 and whose proposals expand internet, technology, and/or remote learning access.
The deadline to submit a GEER II grant application is Aug. 20, 2021.
Montana K-12 public school districts are eligible for similar funding through ESSER funds.
