POLSON — The streets of downtown Polson came alive on Saturday as car enthusiasts had their day in the sun during the Cruisin’ By the Bay car show.

The Mission Valley Cruisers host the annual one-day event. Organizers said turnout this year was strong with more than 100 car owners registering their vehicles, which surpassed the last two years.

“Considering the heat and smoke, we had a pretty good turn out,” said Mission Valley Cruiser Vice President Tim Arneson. “There was a good mix of cars and trucks. We would have liked to have seen more cars, but we are slowly building the show up each year.”

The car show is open to all makes, models, years and styles with multiple variations of classic muscle cars, souped-up rides, vintage roadsters and even motorcycles.

A 1985 AMC Eagle 4X4 Station Wagon nicknamed Bush Wagon was one of the unique vehicles on display. The car got its name shortly after owner Jeremy Cisney purchased it. Cisney said it took about a month to get his car from stock to trail ready.

Custom made trophies, assembled out of discarded engine and car body parts, were awarded to the top 10 and an overall winner was chosen. For his car building efforts, Dennis Black, of Arlee, won the Best of Show trophy for his custom built 1936 Diamond T truck.

Trophies went to Mark Sanders for his 1959 Chevy fleet side truck; Jeremy Zemple and his 1955 Studebaker ES; Greg Greene’s 1939 Chevy Copper Rat; Jessie Adams and the 1937 Ford pick-up truck; Bob Harris with the 1953 Buick Road Master; Bill Smith had the 1937 Chevy; Wade Frame and the 1968 Chevy Chevelle; Robin Ellenwood’s 1932 Plymouth coup; David Bertlin’s 1925 Ford Model T; and John D’ Agostino had the 1955 Chevy Pick-up.
