DILLON — The Polson Pirates came away with their first team win of the 2021 prep golf season after playing only nine holes in a weather-shortened Beaverhead County High School Invitational on Tuesday, Aug. 17.

The Pirates won the tournament held at the Beaverhead Golf Course in Dillon with a combined team score of 161, defeating the Hamilton boys’ team by three shots and Livingston who took third with a score of 165.

Carson Hupka shot a second-place 37 for the Pirates. Hunter Emerson carded a 39 for fourth place. On the Lady Pirates side of the score card, Ashley Maki and Kylee Siefert both finished with a second-place 46. As a team, the Lady Pirates finished second with a score of 204. 

During the eight-team Browning Invitational, held at the East Glacier Golf Course in Browning on Friday, both the Polson Pirates and Lady Pirates came away with team victories.

The Pirates outpaced the rest of the field scoring a total 347, underscoring runner-up Whitefish by 24 strokes. Havre placed third with a team score of 379. The Ronan Chiefs placed sixth.

Torrin Ellis fired a tournament-winning 83 for the Pirates. Hupka placed third with an 86. Christian Lund had a fourth-place finish with 87.

The Lady Pirates finished the day with a 398 to top the team leader board. Maki placed second, shooting a 90. Siefert scored a fourth-place 95.

For the Ronan Maidens, Alyssa Pretty On Top carded 93 for third place. Kylee Niemeyer, who tied for fourth, had a 95.  

On Thursday, Ronan High School will host the Ronan Invitational at the Mission Mountain Golf Course.
