Bulldogs’ Lafrombois finishes ninth at state cross country meet

MISSOULA — During the All-Class Montana State Cross Country Championships held at the U of M Golf Course in Missoula, Mission Bulldog cross country runner Zoran Lafrombois, with a course time of 17:34.52, finished ninth in Class B.
Lafrombois was the highest individual finisher from Mission Valley area high schools in Saturday’s state championships.
The junior runner also received all-state accolades for his top-15 finish which was a vast improvement over his 25th place 18:56.98 finish time in 2020.
Kooper Page (65th, 24:01.50) was the Lady Bulldogs’ top finisher, while for Arlee Saisha Northpiegan (82nd, 24:45.68) was the top Scarlet finisher and Drew Knoll (153rd, 22:47.46) was the top Warrior finisher.
In Class A, Polson Lady Pirate Ashtyn Wagner placed tenth with a time of 20:39.80 followed by teammate Halle Heninger in twelfth with a time of 20:44.09. For the Ronan Maidens, Olivia Heiner finished fifteenth with a time of 21:09.66. Wagner, Heninger and Heiner all received all-state selections for their top-15 finishes.
Polson Pirate Drifter Skillicorn (16th, 7:32.64) narrowly missed a top 15 finish, while Loclyn Finely (74th, 19:46.13) was the top runner for the Ronan Chiefs.
Western C divisional champion Charlo Lady Viking, Guinevere Contreras placed 28th with a time of 24:08.3, while Hayden Smith (67th, 22:48.32) and Branson Zempel (68th, 22:48.44) were the top finishers for the Vikings.
Malacye Piapot (51st, 21:38.82) and Janelle Afterbuffalo (58th, 26:12.56) were the top Eagle and Lady Eagle finisher for Two Eagle River School.
