Polson plunges into new swim season

POLSON — After a solid showing at state in their inaugural seasonal last year, the Polson High School swim team plunged into their Class A 2021-22 swim season by hosting a six-team swim meet on Saturday at the Mission Valley Aquatic Center, their home pool.

Swimming against veteran swim squads from Bigfork, Columbia Falls, East Helena, Havre and Whitefish, Polson posted 13 finishes in the top five of individual events.

Lady Pirate junior Hope Morrison with a time of 1:23.67 won the 100 Backstroke and placed second in the 500 Freestyle.

Also for the Lady Pirates, junior Aspen McKee finished second in the 200 Freestyle and fourth in the 200 IM, while Dixie Montgomery nabbed third in the 500 Freestyle, Kaija Adams finished fifth in the 500 Freestyle and Hailey Hanson posted a fifth place in the 100 Backstroke.

As a team, the Lady Pirates placed second in the 400 Freestyle Relay and fourth in the 200 Freestyle Relay.

At the boy’s end of the pool, Pirate Lachlan Sloan won the 500 Freestyle with a time of 6:18.53 and placed third in the 100 Butterfly, while senior Trey Wyman finished third in the 200 Freestyle and fifth in the 100 Freestyle.

Also for Polson, Josh Reed booked a fifth place in the 100 Backstroke and Hayden Clairmont grabbed a fifth place in the 100 Breaststroke.

The Pirates finished fifth in the 200 Freestyle Relay. 

Polson will be back in the pool on Saturday during the Kalispell Invitational.
