HEREFORD, ARIZONA — Charles Melvin Lockwood, 80 years old, a resident of Via Elegante Assisted Living, 4120 E. Ramsey Road, Hereford, AZ, 85615, passed quietly surrounded by family on July 29, 2022.
Chuck was born in Lynn, Washington, on Aug. 23, 1941, to George Lockwood and Julia Holton.
Chuck grew up in Ronan and worked as a Smokejumper based out of Missoula. In 1966 Chuck was injured in a car accident that left him physically impaired. Chuck then went to work for Washington Corp., in Missoula and then on to the Jore Corporation in Ronan.
Chuck was lovingly married to Carol Ann Lockwood for 60 years before she passed away in 2019.
Chuck was very proud of being from Montana and lived with Carol on Flathead Lake, in Polson, where he was a prominent member of the VOOF. Everyone who met him was left in awe of Chuck’s ability to rise above all the challenges handed to him in his life with such a profound sense of humor and positive outlook. His smile and laugh filled every room he “rolled” into; and everyone this social butterfly met gained a new perspective on life, while leaving them laughing at his latest jokes.
Chuck is survived by three children: Cheryle K. Sylvester (John), Wanda D. McAndrews (T.J.), and Montie Ray Lockwood; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held next summer in Montana, the location and details will follow at a later date. Whenever you asked Chuck if he wanted to do something he always said, “Might as well can’t dance.” We all know that he and Carol are dancing among the stars.
We never had it so good.
