POLSON — A van driven by Diane Lum jumped the curb and went over the rail from the top parking lot to the bottom parking lot at the KwaTaqNuk Resort and Casino on the afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 15.

The vehicle went straight down, tilted and leaned against against the walkway.

The Polson Volunteer Fire Department stabilized the vehicle and the railing and then removed the windshield of the van to rescue the female driver and her two dogs. Firefighters were on their way back to the firestation after Safety Days when the incident occurred.

The woman was taken to St. Joseph’s Medical Center and released about an hour and a half later.

No citation has been issued, since the accident happened on private property, Polson Police Chief Wade Nash said.

He added that Lum said the reason she went over the rail is she lost her brakes. The incident remains under investigation.
