Country seeing too much ‘bust’

Editor,

The problem with “boom, bust” capitalism is that lately, for a variety of reasons, there has been too much “bust” and not enough “boom.”

Reagan gave us the Laffer curve, and more than a few people were not laughing. Bush 41 raised taxes, and we wound up with Bubba from Arkansas, who also raised taxes, which precipitated an economic boom. Go figure.

Now we have Barack, who with a compliant Ben Bernanke, is trying to out-Roosevelt Roosevelt. If we don’t go bankrupt first, and assuming Mr. Obama is reelected, we might actually come through this period in better shape.

There is definitely a reason why economics has been called “the dismal science.”

Lastly, thanks to Daniel “Moose” Martynowicz for elucidating cogently some of the reasons why so many of us love football so much. But as much as I like the Bears, Moose, the Seahawks are going to win their first Super Bowl.
