Editor,

Some of us only require 350 words, at a time, to expose the graft and greed guiding those charged with negotiating (if that’s what it’s called) the current Reserved Water Rights Compact for the Flathead Reservation (as in “land reserved by the federal government, from the public domain”).

It seems that other members of the public require (and are granted) about 1,290 words to display their racial hatred for “old white men” and anything non-tribal, while screaming Mr. Gale from the rooftop.  I find it interesting that an individual would take great pride in having been a part of perpetuating the addiction to gambling, and the destitution it brings, on all Indian reservations throughout the United States while proclaiming the evils of the white man. What’s next on the agenda — break Article 9 of the Hellgate Treaty and support more addictions to alcohol through the illegal use of “ardent spirits”?

I believe that the reaffirmation of the Resolution for a Hate-Free Zone on the Reservation, by Tammy Miller, president of the FRHRC (see: Polson city council agenda for Sept. 17, item 9) has been single-handedly wiped out by Mr. Ducheneaux and his obvious intolerance to anyone who asks for a fair and equitable settlement to anything.

As I’ve stated before: you don’t get to cherry-pick what you like and ignore the rest. The Constitutions stand (state and federal) and if you don’t like them, well, that’s what the amendment process is all about. Mr. Ducheneaux’s “supremacy clause” does not trump the 10th Amendment to the Constitution — nice try. Would you like to buy a vowel? Got water?
