CHARLO — The Charlo Vikings lost their first game of the season to Superior, 24-32.

Charlo started the season with six straight wins and, according to coach Mike Krahn, were neck-and-neck with Superior to the end.

“It was close, but we didn’t play well enough to win, and they made fewer mistakes,” Krahn said. “It just seemed like we weren’t firing on all cylinders. We didn’t play badly; we just didn’t play well enough to win a tight game.”

And a tight game it was. Both teams scored the same number of touchdowns. The difference on the scoreboard came down to several missed extra-point opportunities. Even in the game’s final minutes, Charlo had the ball and was driving for a score.

Offensively, quarterback Tra Ludeman had 23 runs for 148 yards and went 11-27 passing with a touchdown and an interception. Ludeman was playing with a hamstring injury.

Tyler Delaney led the team in tackles with 11 and had an interception while rushing for 78 yards on 12 carries.

The Viking’s next game is at home Friday versus Lincoln.
