Editor,

I am a New Mexico-based freelance writer working on a book about Juanita Elliott. I am looking for any information or contacts who may have known her and her family in the Polson area during the 1950s and ’60s. She was an early record-setting aviatrix, a charter member of the Silver Wings club and also has interesting ties to law enforcement in the southwestern United States.

She and her husband, Bob Elliott (Robert A. Elliott Jr.), operated a cherry orchard near Polson prior to her death in 1962. She was socially and politically very active during her short life, often active in organizing activities for the East Shore Cherry Blossom Festival. I believe she was a member of the Flathead Cherry Growers Association. I have found many articles about her in the Kalispell Daily Inter Lake newspaper over the years, in addition to much nationwide coverage from the early 1930s regarding her piloting activities. She was survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) Elliott and a son, Jack F. Brown.

I would greatly appreciate any information or memories that anyone has regarding this fascinating lady.

I can be contacted at ray.karen7@gmail.com, 575-323-1048 or 2877 Willow Creek Lane, Las Cruces, NM 88007.
