CHARLO — The Mission Lady Bulldogs edged the Charlo Lady Vikings in a non-conference volleyball matchup Friday night. It took four games to decide a winner in the back-and-forth contest before Mission eventually emerged on top, 25-22, 23-25, 25-19, 25-21.

For the Lady Bulldogs, Sara Nerby led in aces with seven of the team’s 15. She also had 12 of the team’s 28 kills and 20 of Mission’s 61 digs. Loren Erickson contributed nine kills and 17 assists, as well as four of the team’s five blocks.

Charlo’s Rachel Hoyt stood out with four blocks, 11 kills and 10 digs, leading her team in each category. Haley Berkram chalked up seven of the team’s 17 aces, with Aspen Runkel adding five. Berkram also led in assists with 13 of Charlo’s 24.

On Saturday at Mission’s tip-off tournament, the Lady Bulldogs came in second to Thompson Falls after going 4-2 in pool play and defeating eventual third-place Deer Lodge 25-16, 15-18.

Both St. Ignatius and Charlo are at home this week, with Mission hosting Troy at 3 p.m. Saturday, and Charlo taking on Arlee on Thursday and Superior on Saturday. The Lady Vikings also played Two Eagle River on Tuesday.
