Leona L. Jackson

RONAN – Leona L. Jackson, 65, of Ronan, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012 at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula. She was born Dec. 9, 1946 in Lewiston, Utah to Frank (Bud) and Lois (Hendricks) Lynch and was quickly spoiled by her older brothers.  The family moved to Jefferson Island, Mont. in 1951 and after spending three harsh winters and adding another son to the family, they moved to St. Ignatius and ran a dairy farm. Leona attended school in St. Ignatius and graduated in 1964. She worked at the hospital in St. Ignatius and various other jobs in the area.

Leona married Cecil Jackson on Oct. 2, 1970 and they moved to Round Butte in 1975. They spent their years together ranching and driving school bus for the Ronan School District until their retirement.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Cody Jackson, step grandson Christopher Weivoda and niece Echo Lynch DeLong.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Cecil Jackson, of Ronan; their son Jim Jackson and grandson Logan Jackson of Missoula; three brothers, Bill (Jeannie) Lynch of Oregon, Scott (Lorraine) Lynch of Ronan and Bud (Ramona) Lynch of Ronan. 

Her five stepchildren: Ramona (Bud) Lynch of Ronan, Darlene (Craig) Elverud of Chester, Carolyn (Chuck) Weivoda of Pablo, Curt Jackson and Keith Jackson, both of Ronan; 13 step grandchildren; 17 step great-grandchildren; 4 godchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, also survive her.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at St. Luke Hospital in Ronan and St. Patrick ICU in Missoula, who all took such loving care of Leona during her illness. A big family hug to Ramona for the care, comfort and support she has given Leona these past few years, when Leona needed anything Ramona was there.

Graveside services were held Friday, Nov. 2.
