DIXON — We must have felt so very fortunate to be in this part of our country during the past week. What we went through with the smoke this summer seems so insignificant compared to the tragedies of what happened to the many touched by Storm Sandy. My sister in Connecticut was able to keep in touch via Facebook with pictures and details. She put out an invitation for others to join them, as they had a safe area with a wood stove, food and power.
Remember to attend the AARP Safe Driving class on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 9:30 a.m. at the Dixon Senior Center. During November, it is free for veterans and their families, widows included. If you are an AARP member, the cost is $12, and for non-members the cost is $14. Bring your AARP card. The class is four hours, so bring a sack lunch.
