POLSON — Polson Volunteer Fire Department firefighters will have amplifiers and the rings to attach them to their self-contained breathing apparatus thanks to local Walmart employees.
About 58 Walmart employees held a baked goods and craft sale to raise money, which combined with a Walmart Volunteer Grant, gave them $5,000 to donate to the Polson Volunteer Fire Department.
Assistant Polson Fire Chief Pete Bishop brought a SCBA and demonstrated how the amplifiers improved communication among firefighters.
Bishop thanked the employees, since the devices sell for $300. Even with a reduced price of $180 each, the department had no extra funds to purchase the amplifiers.
