Editor,

I am offended that Mr. Louie C. Paul Sr. actually believes that anything I write concerning the current Flathead Indian Reservation Federally Reserved Water Rights Compact is in any way personal to him or his tribal majority. I’m offended that he chooses to single me out and paint me as anything except anti-greed, graft, coercion and corruption.

I have made an effort to expose these elements in all the involved parties to this disastrous compact (both tribal and non-tribal) and have not singled out him or his tribe (or rather, the confederated tribes) of the Flathead Indian Reservation. I’m thinking that if he had half the moral fiber he professes, he’d be standing beside me to prevent this outrageous “taking” through deceit and coercion. If he, and the “majority” he mentions, had half the intellect he professes, they would recognize we are being manipulated and pitted against each other by a mysteriously silent federal government.

I strongly dislike (of any race, creed, religion or color) liars. I strongly dislike cheaters. I strongly dislike subversion and coercion. I strongly dislike bullies. I strongly dislike ignorance. If, by Mr. Paul’s terms, this makes me a racist or a hater – well, I guess I am, in his eyes, but that won’t silence me concerning the disgusting absence of true negotiation that’s taken place over the past 10 years concerning water rights on this reservation. My personal battle is with the negotiating teams and has never been with tribal members or the tribe, as an entity, or the residents of Montana in general. But then, maybe he’s overlooked that detail, and we all know that the devil is in the details.

Suggesting I “love it or leave it” is playing the bully, and I’ve already stated how I feel about bullies. I came here with respect for the people of Montana as a whole; unfortunately, that’s not necessarily what I’ve received in return – so, I become a mirror to those around me. Don’t like what you see; change your appearance.

My beef is with the members of the negotiating teams for the reserved water rights compact, not the tribal members or the non-tribal members living on or anywhere near this reservation. I stand for fair and equitable, not deceitful, unlawful and unconstitutional.
