ST. IGNATIUS - Last week’s St. Ignatius Town Council meeting held quite a bit of good news.

Background checks are currently being processed on the two lowest bidders for the town’s water improvement project. St. Ignatius public works director Scott Morton said he hopes to accept one of the two bids as soon as Monday, July 16. The project is still scheduled for completion in October of this year.

Due to high chlorine content, the fountain outside the Skate Ignatius Skatepark will be dry for the remainder of the summer. Plans are under way to insure the park has water for the upcoming skate competition on July 28.

“We may run water over from the church for those few hours,” Morton said.

Also discussed were possible plans for the tennis court. Options to be discussed at a later date include resurfacing the court or repurposing the space.
