The Polson Pirate boys’ basketball team won big over Corvallis but fell in a nail-biter to Libby last week.

Last Tuesday, the Pirates beat the Blue Devils 66-49 in Corvallis. Three Pirates scored in the double digits: Will Davey, Cedric Earthboy and Riley Sampson, each with 17 points.

Sampson had six rebounds, Earthboy five and Davey, four. Davey added six steals, three assists and a block in the contest, while Cedric Smith contributed five assists, three rebounds and two steals.

On Saturday, the Polson hoopsters lost a heartbreaker to the Libby Loggers, 48-47. Despite outscoring the Loggers in the first two frames, the Pirates couldn’t keep the momentum up in the second half.

Davey and Sampson each scored 11 points for Polson, followed by Earthboy with 10. Sampson grabbed eight rebounds, while Davey and Earthboy turned in seven apiece.

Hayden Congdon added four points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals.

Polson hosts Flathead on Friday and the Whitefish Bulldogs on Saturday.
