POLSON — The weather was beautiful for the regional finals of the United Indian Rodeo Association held at Polson Fairgrounds on Sept. 8 and 9.
Local calf roper Zanen Pitts advanced to the finals in Las Vegas, Nev. with a 15.2 run at Sunday’s rodeo. Although he competed in the bulldogging in college, Pitts said he has been focusing on calf roping this year.
The year-end winner and the finals winner in each event will represent the UIRA at the Indian National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nev. In case both those winners are the same person, more rules apply and can be accessed on the Internet. Contestants can also proceed to Las Vegas by placing in the top 10 in each event in the tour rodeos.
