POLSON — After growing his hair out for 2 years, 9-year-old Ethan McCauley recently donated his 11-inch ponytail to Locks of Love, a nonprofit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. Ethan is a third-grader at Linderman Elementary School, and parents Bob and Chantel McCauley say they couldn’t be more proud of their son’s giving heart.
“Ethan has been very proud of his efforts and pleased to be able to contribute something so important to someone in need … despite being periodically referred to as a girl by unknowing people he has met over the last two years,” Chantel writes. “As his parents, we have been touched by Ethan’s compassion and dedication…”
Locks of Love’s mission is to return a sense of self, confidence and normalcy to children suffering from hair loss by utilizing donated ponytails to provide the highest quality hair prosthetics to financially disadvantaged children.
