NINEPIPE — Blackfoot Telecommunications Group CEO William Squires was on hand at the fundraising event for the Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana on Thursday, Jan. 19. He presented the museum’s founder, Bud Cheff Jr., and the museum’s board chairman, Rod Wamsley, with a check for $3,000 from Blackfoot.  Squires addressed the guests at the black tie dinner, stating he successfully applied for matching funds offered through a program at CoBank in Colorado and consequently handed over another check for $3,000. These funds were sought as part of the recent “Save the Museum” campaign. As noted by the event’s master of ceremonies, Ron Merwin, the community had a large part in finalizing the campaign by donating nearly $90,000 toward that effort.

Glacier Bank was a major sponsor for the evening’s event held at Allentown Restaurant.  Many local artists, friends and businesses contributed items for a silent auction, which brought in more than $2,500 in revenue. Bonnie Kirsch was the lucky recipient of a beautiful floral centerpiece donated by Ronan Flower Mill as a door prize, and Jay Preston Sr. received an autographed book written by Bud Cheff Jr.  Seven young girls from Charlo schools performed, and Richard Tobel and Liz Steele provided musical entertainment.
