I am an adult who took the Hunter Education Course held at SKC in April. I would like to thank the three volunteer instructors; they did an excellent job instilling the ideas for gun safety and ethical hunting and gave us a wonderful field day at the shooting range near Ronan. I also want to thank Mission Valley Power and the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes for the orange hunting vest and the Suicide Task Force for the gun locks which were presented to us upon graduation.
Anyone born after Jan.1 of 1985 must take the course in order to get a hunting license, but I would encourage those of us born years before that to also consider it. I learned a lot and feel more comfortable handling my rifle now.
Another course will be held in the fall, so there’s opportunity yet before the general hunting season opens.
And again, thanks to the instructors who do their best to make us safe and ethical hunters.
