RONAN — The University of Montana football Grizzlies will be coming to the Mission Valley this spring for the annual Maroon and Silver Scrimmage. The action, which climaxes the team’s spring training, will take place on the Laverne Parish Memorial Field turf at Ronan High School on Saturday, April 13.

Monte and the Griz cheerleaders will be on hand to add to the game-like atmosphere. Besides watching the Grizzlies on the gridiron, Griz fans will be able to participate in satellite activities including a “meet the coaches” event on the Friday night preceding the scrimmage, a tailgate party that Saturday morning and a community meal for the players and the public following the game. Those activities will take place in the Horticulture Building on the Lake County Fairgrounds (just a punt’s distance away from the football field).

Mission Mountain Chapter of the University of Montana Grizzly Scholarship Association is organizing this event. Community Bank is the scrimmage’s key commercial sponsor and thus it is named the Community Bank Maroon and Sliver Scrimmage. Other businesses and organizations throughout western Montana are also supporting the event. Scrimmage programs will include team information and advertisements from supporting businesses. Proceeds from the program and activities will go toward funding Grizzly athletic scholarships.

To find out more about the scrimmage and satellite events and /or to find out how you can help the local effort, contact local GSA Chapter President Mack McConnell at (406) 745-4151 or email: mackm@blackfoot.net or Chapter Secretary Carlene Bockman at (406) 676-0646 or email: gogriz@ronan.net.
