POLSON — Slide on into the fourth annual Winter Fest on Feb. 23 at the Elks Club. The event will feature a sensational sliced pork entrée prepared by revered chef Guy Hill, of the Old World Deli.

Don’t miss celebrated country singer and songwriter Rob Quist beginning at 8 p.m. Quist captures the spirit of western lands with unmatched originality and cultural sensitivity, according to Sandy Farrell, Soup’s On volunteer.

The Missoulian identified Quist as “one of the premiere Montana musicians of the 20th Century.”

All proceeds benefit Soup’s On at the Wander Inn, as well as other projects supported by Interfaith and Community Outreach Partners.

Benefit organizers are currently seeking auction donations.

Other events are planned during the week preceding Saturday’s festival. As a means of raising awareness of the many homeless people currently in our area, a small group of dedicated visionaries will be camping in a teepee on the lawn of the Wander Inn.

Their rallying cry is, “We won’t come in until we raise $20,000,” to continue the development of a transitional living shelter here in Polson. Donations will be gratefully received at the tipi camp throughout the week.

The Wander Inn will be hosting an open house Wednesday to Friday, Feb. 20-23, with activities each afternoon. Come for bingo on Wednesday, and enjoy karaoke with Loralei on Thursday. The teepee dwellers will host s’mores dessert during family table on Friday and will be showing adventure films on a big screen TV. All events begin at 5 p.m.

Please visit the Wander Inn during Soup’s On, open from 11-1:30p.m., Monday through Thursday. Each day, community volunteers prepare and serve soup in a warm, friendly atmosphere. All are welcome. The Wander Inn is located at 101 Seventh Ave. West.

Soup’s On appreciates the ongoing support from businesses, local growers and the community.

Since its inception in December 2009, the Soup’s On project has served over 42,000 portions, and the transitional quarters provides nearly 850 shelter nights per year.

To donate auction items, please call Alice at 406-250-3189. To make a financial contribution, please stop by the Wander Inn during the week or during the open house or mail a check to ICOP, 101 Seventh Ave. West, Polson.
