ST. IGNATIUS — As is the case with many nonprofit organizations these days, the St. Ignatius Senior Citizens Center is often pressed to meet its month to month financial obligations. There are some state and federal subsidies for the center’s nutrition program and $1,500 annually from the county but by and large, the costs for the center, including the meals, are paid for through donations. When the dishwasher and a kitchen range failed at the same time on Feb. 8, it became obvious that the center will have to scrape the bottom of its financial barrel to get the appliances repaired or replaced. Due to the generosity of donors, the repairs and/or replacements will undoubtedly be made. The center is grateful to those donors, both past and present, that help it get through times like these.
The center’s officers, President Peggy Johnson, Vice President Mack McConnell, Treasurer Mary Bick and Secretary Lyla Faye Krantz have been re-elected. A special board meeting has been called for Friday, Feb. 22, at 10 a.m. Ukulele plays will entertain those attending the evening meal on Wednesday, Feb. 20.
Activities scheduled for the remainder of February:
Ayleen’s Quilters quilt in the center most Thursdays.
• Wednesday, Feb. 20: turkey dinner and ukulele music, 5:30 p.m.
• Thursday, Feb. 21 quilters
• Friday, Feb. 22: 10 a.m. board of directors meeting, beef stew lunch
• Tuesday, Feb. 26: taco casserole lunch
• Thursday, Feb. 28: quilters
Bingo is played after almost every lunch.
