KALISPELL — Mission’s hoopsters are done for the year after a tough Western B divisional tournament last week at Flathead High School.

The Bulldogs fell just short of a third-place finish, battling back from a first-round loss to Bigfork on Thursday to beat Thompson Falls 63-29 on Friday and Deer Lodge 62-46 on Saturday.

Jarred Brown led the Bulldog charge against the Wardens with 21 points, followed by Stuart Grant and Will Powell with 11 each.

Later on Saturday, Mission’s boys faced the Loyola Sacred Heart Rams in a battle for the consolation title and the Bulldogs struggled to stop Loyola’s Josh Janssen, who racked up 25 points for the Rams. Despite a 17-point effort from Grant, who hit three 3-pointers, and another 15 points from Dylan Evans, Mission was outscored in all but the first quarter.

The Bulldogs ended the year with a 9-16 record. Coach Steve Pelletier will lose three seniors to graduation: Paden Alexander, Nikko Alexander and Evans.

In the first round of divisionals Feb. 20, the Lady Bulldogs fell to Eureka 51-31, putting them in a loser-out game against Bigfork Thursday.

Mission’s senior duo of Stephanie Lewandowski and Loren Erickson turned in nine points apiece in their final game for the Lady Bulldogs. Foul trouble put Lewandowski, Mission’s leading scorer, out of the game early, and despite a last-period 10-3 scoring run, the Lady Bulldogs couldn’t catch the Vals. Mission’s postseason journey ended in a 40-35 loss.
