POLSON — July 8 is going to be a great day for Polson, according to Karen McMullen and Tana Seeley. McMullen chairs the Streetscape Fundraising Committee, and Seeley is project director for Mission Valley Aquatics.

Mission Valley Aquatics will break ground on phase one of their indoor aquatic facility at noon on July 8. Later that day the Streetscape Fundraising Committee will throw a party in downtown Polson beginning at 4 p.m. Titled “Light Up the Town, Celebrate Our City Center,”  the event will begin at 4 p.m. on Main Street. It’s a family-friendly event with a chalk-painting contest and the MVA’s blow-up water slide for children. Adults can participate in a horse racing game, and there will be prizes and surprises.

A taste of the town will be offered by local food vendors. Partipants can dine outdoors on picnic tables that will be set up on Main Street.

The Streetscape Fundraising Committee will be offering “pavers” for sale. Inscribed with the name of a loved one or family member(s), pavers are $35 and $50 and will cover some of the “bulbouts,” the rounded areas on each street corner pushing out from the sidewalk.

A street dance with the Big Sky Mudflaps will round out the evening as Polson dances under the new lights purchased by Streetscape.
