Hunter education classes scheduled

POLSON — Hunter Education Classes are scheduled in March and are free of charge. By state law, anyone born after Jan. 1, 1985, must have completed the Hunter Education Course to buy a hunting license in Montana. To become certified, students must be at least 11 years old.

Students must register online at: fwp.mt.gov, and then click on “education.” When registering online, please note the posted information and guidelines given. Students may also register on orientation night March 14.

The course is held in the Polson Middle School cafeteria. Parents/guardians must accompany students. Books will be handed out and objectives set at the March 14 orientation. 

On Thursday, March 21, the first day of instruction will take place and the books must be completed before class. 

Class will take place again on March 22 and the required “field day” will be March 23. Instruction takes place again March 25 and on March 27 there will be a review and written exam. 

Attendance is required at all classes and on the “field day.” Adult students, 18 years and older, can take the class online but must attend “field day” on March 23. 

Schedule summary:

• Thursday, March 14: 6:30 p.m.- 9 p.m.

• Thursday, March 21: 6:30 p.m.- 9 p.m.

• Friday, March 22: 6:30 p.m.- 9 p.m.

• Saturday, March 23: 8 a.m.-noon

• Monday, March 25: 6:30 p.m.- 9 p.m.

• Wednesday, March 27: 6:30 p.m.- 9 p.m.
