PABLO – A stand down held in Pablo at the Joe McDonald Health and Fitness Center Feb. 22-23 drew about 545 people. This is a great success. There were a number of veterans who were not previously enrolled in the VA and will now be able to receive services through the VA.
Some veterans have also submitted disability claims for benefits through VBA. This event takes a great deal of work, from loading and hauling the equipment to unloading the trucks, which takes a lot of volunteers. Flu shots and diabetes checks were provided for veterans by the VA. Families of veterans were given flu shots and checkups by Tribal Health. The Boy Scouts removed all the cardboard and pallets.
A special thank-you goes out to “Zeus,” Salish Kootenai College and the Flathead Nation for providing a wonderful facility to hold the event out of the cold.
