POLSON —Polson City Hall is welcoming 2011 with a list of improvements. Thanks to an Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grant, the building began refurbishment in November to improve its energy efficiency.

The whole middle of the building has been opened up and reconfigured. Doors, windows and walls have been removed and reused or replaced.

Work is ongoing with Mike Johnson from the parks department doing most of the labor although Polson park superintendent Karen Sargeant said the city hopes to complete their part of the project by the end of January.

The state Energy Efficiency crew is installing a more efficient heating and cooling system. They are also replacing electrical outlets and installing new breaker boxes. Eventually the Polson Police Department and Polson City Court will have their own entrance, Sargeant noted.

Johnson and Sargeant have been painting as areas are finished. Now most of the walls wear new coats of paint, mostly sage green.

Sargeant predicts construction will continue into February.
