POLSON — In a short meeting Jan. 2, the Polson City Commission unanimously voted to pass the second reading of Ordinance #661, to revise chapter 14-10 regulation of public trees.

Polson parks superintendent Karen Sargeant said she plans to do an educational campaign for Polson residents about their own trees as well as city trees. A pruning clinic and a March 30 workshop at the library about disease in trees are two planned activities.

During city manager comments, Todd Crossett reported that workers are replacing the HVAC system in city hall.

Crossett also said the road crew has been working hard, mostly at night, to keep city streets plowed.

Mayor Pat DeVries asked Crossett if any time had been set up for a commission retreat to work on a vision statement.

Crossett suggested the first part of February, so that all commissioners can be involved.

In other business, the commission approved the cash report for November before dealing with board appointments.

Bruce Agrella received the nod for the joint airport board for a three-year term. He is currently the chair and has served for six years. Arlene Long was reappointed to the park board for Ward 1.

David Cottington was reappointed to the golf board to fill the at-large position, and Ron Normandeau was the Ward 2 appointment.

The next commission meeting will be held on Jan. 17 at 7 p.m.
