Robert “Bob” Murray

RONAN — Robert “Bob” Murray, 53, of Ronan passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013 at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.

He was born April 19, 1959 to Robert and Ann Murray. Bob was raised in Reading, Pa., where he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball in the neighborhood and swimming in the neighborhood pools. He also enjoyed attending many rock concerts and professional sports games.

Bob graduated from high school early in order to enlist in the Air Force. After basic training in Texas, Bob was stationed in Minot, N.D. where he met and married his wife Sandy. Just a couple of months after they were married Bob and Sandy were stationed in Kunsan, Korea for a year. Bob always said if a couple can share a barracks room for a year in a place like Kunsan, they would probably be together for a while.

Bob loved a good bargain. He was a true buyer/seller at heart and was always looking for the best deal and the best value. He had many interests and whatever he was currently interested in, he would spend hours researching until he knew the subject thoroughly.

Bob had a great sense of humor, a sharp wit, and liked to laugh. He was very intelligent and always thought for himself, especially when it came to politics. He had strong opinions on politics and personal responsibility and enjoyed animated conversations on those topics.

A truly good person with an exceptionally strong moral compass, Bob will be greatly missed.

Bob’s wife Sandy, his mother Ann, and his brother Alec, survive him.

To honor Bob’s memory, the family requests donations be made to the Wings Regional Cancer Support.

An informal gathering to honor Bob’s life will be held at the Round Butte Women’s Club House, west of Ronan, on Sunday, April 21, at 2 p.m.
