Mission’s Ahlborn 4-0 in Bigfork

After tough matches against Loyola and Superior earlier in the week, the Mission girls tennis team had some standout play at the Bigfork Flight Tournament Saturday.
“Briar (Ahlborn) had a major upset in winning against Paige Larsson,” coach Sara Ison noted. “Paige was assumed to be the dominant player and win all of her matches; Briar was the only player she lost to. Briar worked her butt off and simply kept the ball in play with a nice consistent topspin because she knew that Paige was off and couldn’t seem to keep the ball in play. (Briar) kept her cool and stayed confident, and that is something that will make all the difference in the world for a player.”
Cierra Dougherty won all four of her matches in Bigfork.
“It was a very good day for Cierra, especially to win against a Cutbank and Bigfork player,” Ison said. “I am very proud of her performance and I hope it builds confidence in herself as a player.”
Mission hosted Loyola Tuesday and will play in Ronan Thursday before heading to Troy on Friday. Then the Lady Bulldogs will be back in action at home Saturday against Eureka.
