Charlo athletes bring heat to Corvallis, Missoula

Charlo track and field had a busy weekend, first competing in the Sapphire Invitational Friday in Corvallis, and then heading to Missoula Saturday for the Seeley Swan Invitational.

“We had a really good meet on Friday night in Corvallis and had several athletes that came back and competed really hard on Saturday in Missoula,” coach Bret Thompson said. “A lot of seasonal best this weekend from all our track athletes.”

In Corvallis, the Vikings finished second in the team standings, while the Lady Vikings were third. For the boys, Tra Ludeman won the 100-meter dash (11.61), while Tyler Delaney was first in the 400-meter (53.21). Tristan Santee was fourth in the 400 (55.45) and eighth in the 800 (2:24.60). Connor Daugherty took fifth (2:09.70) and Kobe Cox seventh (2:13.20) in the 800. Dalton Delaney was eighth in the 1,600 (5:07.90) and fourth in the 3,200 (11:22.40).

Charlo’s hurdlers had a strong showing in both events. In the 110 hurdles, Ludeman won in 15.61; Kail Pope was third in 16.64; Jesse Long came in sixth (18.27); and Michael Delaney seventh (19.20). In the 300, Pope took second in 42.30; Jesse Long was fourth (46.52); Michael Delaney fifth (47.54) and Stetson Stipe was seventh (55.76).

The team of Tyler Delaney, Pope, Jacen Petersen and Ludeman won the 4x100 relay in 45.20, and Pope, Tyler Delaney, Daugherty and Petersen took second in the 4x400 relay (3:37.20).

Petersen was seventh in javelin with a throw of 143-04 and third in pole vault (11-00.00) while Webb O’Neill won the pole vault (13-00.00) and took second in high jump (5-06.00). Kyle Couture finished seventh in pole vault (9-06.00). O’Neill also took second in triple jump (40-05.50).

On the girls’ side, Michaela Krahn was eighth in the 100 (14.13) and seventh in the 200 (29.33), while Sienna Brown took fourth in the 200 (28.32). Madison Foust was third in the 400 (1:05.35); Jordan Bilile seventh (1:10.08); and Lisa Cox eighth (1:10.59). In the 800-meter, Rachel Hoyt was fifth (2:40.70) and Courtney Vaughan seventh (3:00.80). Sierra Ragen took sixth in the 1,600-meter (6:15.60), and Mackenzie Foust was fifth in the 3,200-meter (13:40.10). Aspen Runkel took second in both the 100 and 300-meter hurdles (16.76 and 48.22, respectively). Hoyt placed third in the 100 hurdles (17.13).

Foust, Brown, Runkel and Krahn were third (53.10) in the 4x100 relay, and Runkel, Hoyt, Brown and Foust were second (4:23.05) in the 4x400 relay.

Krahn finished fourth in discus (100-00), while Hoyt was sixth (94-05) and Foust eighth (90-11) in javelin. Hoyt was also third in high jump (4-10) and Brown eighth (4-02). Jordan Ludeman was second in pole vault (8-06), while Bilile came in eighth in long jump (13-07.50). Shayna Nagy took seventh in triple jump (28-00.25).

In Missoula, the Charlo boys finished eighth in the team standings, while the girls came in seventh.

For the boys, Santee took seventh in the 1,600 (5:10.89). Ludeman won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.75 and Pope came in fifth (17.19). Pope was second in the 300 hurdles (42.43). The 4x100 relay team of Tyler Delaney, Pope, Ludeman and Petersen took second in 46.10.

Webb O’Neill was sixth in high jump (5-08) and third in the pole vault (13-00), while Petersen was seventh (12-00).

For the girls, Runkel took fifth in the 100 hurdles (16.87) and Hoyt was eighth in the 300 hurdles (52.46). The girls 4x100 relay team of Madison Foust, Brown, Runkel and Krahn was second in 53.66. Mackenzie Foust threw 100-01 for fifth place in javelin, while Hoyt was second in high jump (4-10). Jordan Ludeman finished third in pole vault (8-06).

The Charlo Vikings and Lady Vikings will head to the Flathead Triangular meet Thursday in Kalispell.
