PABLO — As part of a yearly celebration of migratory birds, we would like to encourage everyone to stop by the lobby of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal Complex in Pablo from April 22-25. Local third-grade artists from across the Reservation have completed excellent entries for this year’s annual International Migratory Bird Day poster contest sponsored by the CSKT Wildlife Management and Information and Education Programs. You can cast votes for your favorites. Each class and individual will receive a prize for participating. Special prizes will be awarded to the winners who will be announced during the week of May 6.

This year’s International Migratory Bird Day theme is “Life Cycles of Migratory Birds.” We are encouraging everyone to go outside and enjoy the more than 250 birds that can be observed in our communities. Birding is a fun way to enjoy nature, get exercise, and spend time with family and friends. You can also help birds by planting native shrubs and trees, keeping your bird feeders clean and joining the Mission Valley Audubon Society. Consider attending our Community Bird Day Festival on May 23, 5 to 8 p.m. at the Salish Kootenai College Joe McDonald Health and Athletic Center.
