Editor,

I plan to vote and hope that others also will consider voting for Susan Lake for water commissioner.

Susan supports putting the Water Use Agreement to a vote by individual farmers and ranchers. For a number of reasons I favor the WUA but I recognize that others have reasons for opposing. In my view a vote is the best way to determine the outcome for the project as a whole.

If the WUA is defeated, the FJBC will face some major issues including the question of how best to respond to the likelihood of  water court litigation and how to find project funding sources that will be lost if the compact and WUA are not approved.

If the WUA is passed, the FJBC will need to continue to work with the tribes and develop the details of the measured water use allowance and other issues.

Either way, I believe that given her knowledge, experience, energy and work ethic, she will make positive contributions to FJBC deliberations and decisions.
